Lion’s Head

A beautiful hike that gives you the whole deal without taking it all out of you.

This is the best quick-fix deal you can get! A beautiful hike to the top of a mountain starting within 10 minutes drive from the city centre. And not only that - It takes you on a circular path around the mountain so you get continuously changing stunning views of the city bowl and harbour, Table Mountain, Robben Island and Camps Bay - all in one hike. It’s fairly gentle - but uphill - to begin with, becoming gradually more strenuous, but the views make it worth-while from the very beginning. Be aware that when you come to the chains, which can be either a big adrenalin kick or an absolute turn-off for the rest of the hike, you have the choice to skip them and stay on the path that takes you around and all the way to the top (this part is quite steep). Definitely the advisable route with a baby in a backpack… Bring some snacks and refreshments for breaks or as a reward when you get to the top, and remember to sign the guest book! If you happen to be here for full moon, bring head-torches and get ready for an evening of a lifetime! An amazing experience to share with the whole family. These hikes have become extremely popular and you might have to walk in a "queue" at times, so be patient and enjoy the moment!
